Families are invited to a grand event for all the community at The Carrs. The Jubilee party in the park last summer attracted hundreds of families.

Wilmslow Town Council, which planned the event, wanted to build on that success and has organised a free Party on the Carrs this Sunday.

Stage acts include Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company, Styal Brass, Move and Groove, soloists Alan Burton and Heather Dee and headline act four-piece band Slinky.

The event will celebrating the 50th anniversary of Alderley District Scout Band with marching band displays including guest bands from Rhyl and Davyhulme.

There will be food and drink, various charity stalls, face painting, bouncy castles, a portrait painter and fire engine.

Councillor Jo Milnes, chairman of the community and order committee of Wilmslow Town Council, said:  “The Jubilee event brought large numbers of residents to the Carrs to enjoy the party atmosphere. The comments received overwhelmingly suggested that similar events would be well attended.

“This free event will give community groups the opportunity to promote themselves while the entertainment available on stage, in the parade ring and on the stalls will encourage people to stay and enjoy the event.

“The open air stage show brings together a mix of community and professional acts and I would recommend arriving early, getting a pitch and preparing to dance your way through the afternoon.”

The car park on Cliff Road will be closed except for blue badge holders and event participants. Visitors can park for free in the town centre car parks.

The Party in the Carrs is on Sunday, June 16, from midday to 5pm.
