The next production from Macclesfield Amateur Dramatic Society (MADS) will be a comical farce set in the world of newspapers in the 1950s.

Six cast members will play 49 parts as they switch from character to character for their latest performance, Pratt of the Argus, which has been adapted from the David Nobbs novel by Michael Birch.

Robert Copeland, 42, who plays 10 of the characters, said: “It’s funny. It represents a really funny slice of life from the 1950s. It will really have you laughing.

"There is a multitude of characters, it’s very funny and very northern – it’s like two hours of Emmerdale and Corrie at its funniest.

“It’s like an hour of cozy TV on a Sunday night.”

MADS is a registered charity based in a former Sunday School on Lord Street.

The show is running at the theatre until Saturday, May 11.

Tickets cost £8 from 01625 611 974 or tickets@madstheatre.org.
