BOLLINGTON all-rounder Kevin Waterhouse finished as runner-up in the ECB First Division Player of the Year Awards last weekend.

Waterhouse was a key figure with bat and ball during an up-and-down season for Bollington - but he was rewarded for his efforts at the annual ceremony at Mere Golf Club.

Warrington skipper Malcolm Agar took first prize after registering nearly 800 runs this season.

Winners - ECB Player of the Year: Gary Yates (Bowdon); First Division Player of the Year: Malcolm Agar (Warrington); Second Division Player of the Year: Pete Manser (Cheadle); Young Player of the Year: Tom Young (Hyde); Most Improved Club: Christleton; Eddie Howard Fair Play Award: Upton; Bass Aggregate Trophy: Oulton Park.

  • POYNTON youth coach Denis Ridyard sadly died last week and a cremation service will be held today (Wednesday) at Macclesfield Crematorium at 12.30pm.

Together with Ken Ingman and George Wardle, and Stan Davies, Ridyard was a founder member of the Cheshire Youth Cricket Association in the 1980s.
