WHAT do you get when you cross more than 2,000 players, 231 teams, 76 clubs and 26 leagues, 1,000 parents and 15 pitches? The largest mini-football tournament in the UK.

Poynton Football Club hosted the hugely successful two-day football extravaganza at Poynton High School.

And teams flocked from far and wide to take part in the superbly run tournament, which attracted scouts from all of the top clubs including Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

"All the visiting teams were very complimentary about the organisation and all the matches were played in the best spirit of the game," said club chairman Steve Hardicre.

The winners/runners-up were: boys u8s - South Manchester/Reddish Vulcans; u9s - Reddish Vulcans/Apollo Juniors; u10s - Poynton/Denton West End Boys; u11s - Langho Juniors/Macc Boys; u12s - Alsager Celtic/Poynton; u13s - Denton Town/Nantwich Town; u14s - Castrol Athletic/FC Hyde Athletic; girls u10s - Manchester City/Denton Town; u11s - Denton Town/Manchester City; u12s - Stockport County/Poynton; u13s - Norton & Stockton Ancients/Stockport County; u14s - Buxton Jnrs/Llandudno Junction.
