Macclesfield Town forward Reece Styche has thanked manager John Askey for showing faith in him after he signed for the club until the end of the season.
Styche was previously with the Silkmen on loan back in October, but had his time at Macc limited due to injuries.
He returned to parent club Kidderminster Harriers until he departed last week, allowing him to re-join Macclesfield on a permanent deal.
Styche was part of the team that lost 2-1 at his former club Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, and he is keen to hit the ground running from here despite that set back.
“We’ve got to kick on now as it’s the other side of Christmas and this is where you stamp results,” he told the club’s official website. “We need to get some points on the board and push during these last few months of the season and there is no reason why we can’t get in the play-offs.
“I’m back at Macclesfield now after my loan as I went back to Kidderminster and sorted stuff out there by having my contract mutually terminated.
“I spoke to John Askey and he was happy for me to come back if I was fit and after a full week of training I’m good to go.
“We were on quite a good run during the period when I was here so it was tough for me not getting to play a part because I was injured.
“John saw enough of me though in the first few weeks of my spell to bring me back and I’m grateful to him for that.”
Styche struggled to find a home in his first few years as a professional, beginning his career at Hednesford Town before going on to play for Grantham, Coalville, Shepshed Dynamo and Chasetown.
It was in 2010 when he settled down though, signing for Forest Green and going on to make over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals.
Those impressive performances saw him called up to play for Gibraltar in a match against the Faroe Island, before he left Forest Green for Kidderminster in 2014.
