Wilmslow Wayfarers completed a comfortable victory against neighbours Styal at the SCG.

Batting first, Styal mustered just 64 thanks largely to pace-man Mike Smith who took an important 4-11.

The swinging Ant Mape took 3-35 while Neil Shirley (1-4) and Luke Unsworth (1-11) took the other wickets.

The Wayfarers response was dominated by the Barlow duo of Ken and Peter.

Ken hit 12 in the first over of the response before being dismissed by a Middleton wonder-catch.

However, son Peter shielded Wayfarers to victory, hitting a huge six off the last ball of the match to claim victory.

Meanwhile, Wayfarers seconds hosted Chester Asian at home.

The away side batted first and reached 222-8 declared despite Ishi Chunara taking four wickets.

Richard Branagan (48) and son-in-law James McIntyre (20) started the Wayfarers’ response positively. But a middle-order collapse left Wayfarers staring at defeat.

However, although Jorge Williams crashed 36 not out to give Wayfarers an outside chance of victory, the home side fell 22 runs shy of the target, settling for a draw at 200-8.
