Macclesfield junior boxers have proved themselves worthy contenders at this year’s ABA Schoolboy Championships.

Harry Thomson, Abraham Varey and Liam Hinkley have all been awarded North West Regional titles and will now compete against the best contemporaries around England, focusing on reaching the finals over the coming months.

Harry Thomson, a busy little boxer, defeated Matthew Walton of Chorley ABC in the first round before beating Lewis Godfrey of Dynamics ABC.

Liam Hinkley, who now boxes with more maturity than is generally found in juniors, enjoyed his successes against Samuel Tucker of Sandygate ABC and Zak Miller of Ashton Albion.

Abraham Varey progressed to the finals for the second straight year with a walkover victory in the preliminary rounds.

ALL three fighters, and many more including Beth Campbell (right), Pete Bebbington, Liam Hanrahan and Josh Spence, will be in action this Friday at the MBBC annual showcase, held at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
