STYAL Golf Club hosted the latest BB stableford in the Manchester Alliance order of merit.

The course provided a good test for the area’s top pros and amateurs and Brookdale assistant pro Grant Hamerton hit top spot for the day, sponsored by Styal stalwart Alan Bullock, pictured (above right) with Bullock.

Macclesfield’s men played for the Hovis medal and in Division One Mark Hillaby posted a winning 62 to finish three shots ahead of D McCullagh.

P Rawcliffe was also in bright form in Division Two, his 62 seeing him five shots clear of Sam Baker.

Davenport’s men played an American Greensome and top of the shop with 47 points were Chris Pollard and Kevin Hope.

Just a point off the pace were Dave Ludlow and Tim Slinger with Peter Taylor and John Hurst winning a card play-off on 45 from Will Bell and Les Shippen.

Davenport ladies played an EWGA medal and the divisional winners were Janet Lee (65), Christine Brown (70) and Madelaine Lomax (73).

A medal at Shrigley Hall saw Martin Firth top Division One with 66 by a shot from Brian Hopkins. In Division Two Philip Thompson posted 67 to win by one from Keith Meredith and Howard Stringer.

Styal’s men played a Wednesday Stableford and BW Cotterell was out on his own with 39 points, three better than Martyn Walsh.

Styal seniors were in a singles Stableford with John Daldry first past the post with 40 points, three better than Martin Ogden, Ernie Knight and Peter Chorlton.

Styal ladies were also in Stableford mode and Tammy Chan led in with 35 points from Nancy Chorlton 34 and Margaret Winterburn 33.

Wilmslow’s men played their Autumn Meeting and C Miller was top of the shop winning Division One with a fine 66 seeing him two shots clear of J Smith. J Shaw topped Division Two with 71 one shot better than R McCaffery.

Wilmslow ladies played a subsidiary medal to the Tommis Trophy and Mary Rawsthorn led in with 72, from Susan Warburton (73).

The Jubilee Vase at Alderley Edge needed a cpo on 38 points to see Ken Hall into top spot from P Penney.
