Wilmslow’s Mike Mullins qualified fifth in class for the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Division on Oulton Park’s International circuit.
A 2min 24.019sec lap in qualifying saw him qualify 1.142sec ahead of nearest rival Trevor Morgan.
A delighted Mullins climbed to third by lap five and held on until the end for his second podium of the year.
However, race two didn’t go according to plan, as he retired after only four laps. He will next be in action on September 4 at Oulton Park
