Alderley Edge Ladies fifth team rounded off a successful season with a 7-2 victory over Wilmslow fourths.

Alderley started the match on the back foot because star striker Helena Evans arrived late, forcing them to start with only 10 players.

Wilmslow took advantage and scored but, five minutes after coming on Evans equalised with a fantastic run from the halfway line.

Evans struck again from the top of the D and completed a fourth straight hat-trick in a one-on-one with the keeper.

Alderley led 3-1 at the break but after the restart a penalty corner was well converted by the Wilmslow captain.

With Wilmslow pushing for an equaliser Evans’ lung-busting 50-yard run was only matched by the confident finish.

Two more from Evans gave Alderley breathing space and Julia McCarthy rounded off the scoring.

The player-of-the-match was Evans. Edge are now looking forward to next season in the Cheshire Women’s League Division Five.
