Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club’s recent showxcase proved to be a feast of great entertainment as locals turned out in force to support the lads.

Fifteen bouts took place at Wilmslow Leisure Centre, and the Macc fighters put on a fine show for a bumper crowd.

In front of special guests Cheshire East chief executive Erika Wenzel, Coun Frank Keegan and honorary club president, pro fighter Steve Bell, brothers Jake and Lewis Stanton each showed good skills to get the evening under way.

Liam Hinkley then put on a fine display to beat his opponent, Pioneer ABC’s Kade Leary.

Harry Thomson kept the momentum going but he lost his match to George Brennan and Danny Corke was also unlucky, losing on a points decision to Jamie Devine.

In beating Brandon McFeely, MBBC’s Nathan Gorman was named the junior boxer of the night.

In the final two junior bouts, Macc fighters Abraham Varey and Jake Haigh both impressed in their matches but weren’t given the judges’ decisions.

Liam Hanrahan opened up the senior card with a match against Scottish ABA champion, Michael Jameson.

An excellent contest was surprisingly awarded to Jameson, although Hanrahan can console himself with the bout of the night trophy.

Pete bebbington had a tough night against aggressive southpaw Ian Aldridge but came out with a unanimous win before a heavyweight contest between Sam Bradbury and Ben English.

In a power-versus-speed contest, Bradbury put in a superb display to take the win and the MBBC belt for the event’s top senior.

John Watson’s combinations prioved too much for Penrith’s david Lewis, who was stopped by the referee in the third round and Gareth Jones completed the night with a first-round stoppage victory over Orme ABC’s David Williams.
