FORMER WBU Super-Featherweight champion Michael Gomez will be the guest of honour at Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club's annual fight night at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

Gomez, who takes on Peter McDonagh for the vacant Irish Lightweight title in Dublin's National Stadium this Friday, joins club president, and former double ABA Featherweight champ, Steve Bell at ringside for the boxing extravaganza on Friday, February 3.

This week Express Sport takes a look at the remaining fighters who will be in action on the night:

  • Jonathon Tompson , 13, lives on the Western Estate and will be stepping into the ring for his third bout of his debut season.
  • Sutton fighter Anna Perry , 14, was the club's first young female boxer to take part in the Kid Gloves.
  • Ian Barton , 15, attends Fallibroome School and is keen to impress in his first season.
  • Jake Haigh , 11, attends Tytherington High School.
  • Macclesfield College student Amin Mamoon , 17, won a gold medal at Bolton Box Cup.
  • Apprentice plumber and heating engineer Joe Collins , 19, is keen to impress in his first season of amateur boxing.
  • Lewis Taylor , 15, attends Henbury High School and has fought twice already this season.
  • Louis Poynton is a maintenance technician at the Shrigley Hall Country Club. The 23-year-old is looking forward to fighting in front of his home crowd.
