Macclesfield Hockey Club’s Under-12 girls are preparing to show their skills on the National stage after their performance in the Cheshire Mini Hockey Tournament at Altrincham.

They were runners-up in the competition and qualified for the National Regional Finals which will be held in Leeds on April 10.

The girls played eight games and won five, drew one.

Coach Alycia Sutton said: "They played their hearts out during every game, never giving up and fighting all the way to the end. In defence Elizabeth Ashby and Morgan Hadfield worked hard, and although both girls were injured they bravely carried on.

"Goalkeeper Natalie Stevens was outstanding during all the games and made some spectacular and crucial saves to keep Macclesfield in front."

Helping the game flow in the way of Macclesfield were Megan Harding and Fiona Collins who never stopped running.

At the front the team was inspired by Olivia Richardson and Thea Losa who worked together as a team, creating the goals needed."

Macclesfield Hockey Club has well established junior training sessions on Sunday mornings at Tytherington High School starting 9.30am.

Those interested are invited to go along and join them.
