Wilmslow High School’s Year Nine footballers have reached the last 16 of the English Schools’ Premier League Cup.

The Under-14 lads from the Holly Road school won their sixth-round tie against Liverpool’s Cardinal Heenan High School, with goals from Pete Boyle, Olly Ford and a Jamie Frost brace seeing them through.

Wilmslow beat Thornleigh Salesian Sports College 4-2 in the first round and since clocked up victories over Rainhill High School 3-1, Failsworth Sports College 5-0, St Francis Xavier’s College 3-2 and St Matthews RC High School 4-3 to book their meeting with Cardinal Heenan.

The current Cheshire Champions (pictured) will take on another Liverpool school, De La Salle, in their next outing, with a quarter-final spot at stake.
