Wilmslow High School’s Year Seven footballer’s fantastic season continues as they have reached the last eight of the National English Schools’ FA Cup, from an original entry of some 658 schools.

The Under-12 boys from the Holly Road school (pictured above) won their seventh-round tie against Liverpool’s St Francis Xavier College, with goals from Alex Jackson and Miles Fenton seeing them through.

Wilmslow beat Huddersfield’s Colne Valley High School 5-2 in the first round and have since clocked up victories over North Chadderton High School (6-1), Priestnall School (1-0), Lakelands College in Shropshire (8-1) and Thomas Telford School (2-1) to book their meeting with St Francis Xavier.

The team’s coach Simon Mawer said: "The boys thoroughly deserve their success, they have worked very hard and their effort, commitment and attitude have been exemplary.

The lads will take on another Liverpool school, West Derby, in the quarter-final at Wilmslow High School next Wednesday (March 9).

Kick off is at 2pm.
