MACC Town Ladies returned to action in some style, beating Glossop 5-1.

Captain Vicky Jepson and Lucy Lutton, starting her first game of the season, dominated the midfield, and Glossop were finding it very difficult to deal with their control of the game.

It was Lutton who scored the opener, firing home Kate Hogan’s cross.

Emily Boon’s telling runs forward were rewarded with a second goal just before half-time.

The Silkgirls should have put the game safe by half-time, but Glossop made it difficult and some good defending helped keep the score down.

In the second half a couple of good forward runs by Kim Janes and Boon started to open up the Glossop defence, and Jepson, Lutton, Janes, and Hogan all had squandered their opportunities.

Hogan eventually scored from close range for a 3-0 lead and when Abbie Jackson set player-of-the-match Janes free, she hit number four.

Janes completed the scoring for Macc in the late stages and Glossop notched a consolation before the end.

Macc Town Ladies’ Under-12s had a 1-0 victory over Lymm Rovers Leopards.

A much-changed line-up saw Macc push hard and keep possession well, denying Lymm any opportunity to score.

Acacia Ford got the all-important goal late in the first half and, although Macclesfield pushed for more to make the game secure, they were forced to settle for a 1-0 win.

The player-of-the-match was Rebecca Quinn, for her endless running and quality delivery at corners.
