PIGEON RACING: Macclesfield Flying club held their ninth race of the season with the pigeons flying home from Portland, which is approximately 190 miles home to most of the lofts.

The birds were given their freedom at 8.45am in a North West wind and of the seven members that sent 46 birds George and Linda Greenwood took first place for a fourth successive week along with the second, fourth and fifth prizes.

There is just no stopping this partnership! Their first bird in a Cheq Pied Van Den Bosch x Van Reet Hen, Sire VDB bred by Bob Ashley and the Dam purchased from a Trevor Goostry sale which was bred by Pat Marsdon, Vel 1323.

Their next in a Blue Pied Verye x Busschaert Hen, Sire a Verye bred by Tom Bailey of Rawmarsh winner of 1st Nantes and 2nd Combine and the Dam a Buss winning a first prize as a young bird, Vel 1297.

Taking third spot was Bernie Barrett and Son with a Blue Van Loon hen, both parents winning first prizes and also topping the Federation, all Grandparents bred by Planet Bros, Vel 1263.

Fourth were George and Linda with a Dark Busschaert Hen, Sire from Johnny Brooker lines and the Dam from fellow club member Kevin Bowers, Vel 1237.

5th G/L Greenwood Vel 1223.

6th F/M Hough Vel 1197.

7th F/M Hough Vel 1197.
