Wilmslow Wayfarers comfortably defeated Mossley at Oakwood Farm last weekend.

Batting first they declared on 205-7 with Robbie Hassard (52) and Luke Unsworth (70) the main contributors with the bat. Joel Unsworth also contributed with 31 off 28 balls.

Mossley struggled in response as they slumped to 25-5 due to some tight bowling by Martyn Baldwin (2-28) and Luke Unsworth (3-17). The away side fought back, but James Cosgrove-Bennett (4-30) blew away the tail with the visitors falling to 131 all out.

Wayfarers’ second XI won due to Heaten Mersey conceding the fixture.

LAST Monday Northamptonshire and Ireland international Niall O’Brien hosted a coaching session for players at Wayfarers.

O’Brien has played in two Cricket World Cups, and was part of the Ireland side that beat England in this years’ World Cup, where his brother Kevin hit a century.

The session was enjoyed and well attended by the Wayfarers players who were put through their paces in a fantastic experience.
