LANGLEY first XI travelled to neighbours Chelford at the weekend and kept alive their outside chances of promotion.

Skipper Stevens loss the toss and Langley were asked to bat first. They got off to a poor start when Joel Unsworth was bowled for a duck second ball of the game but Luke Unsworth (19) and Tim Pattison (24) dug in and the pair added 48 in 23 overs.

This gave Langley a solid platform to set a good total but the middle order were ripped apart by Duffy’s leg spin as Langley were reduced to 80-6 with only Chris Pattison 17 reaching double figures.

It was left to veterans Gregory and Hollinshead to rebuild things as the pair added 45 before Gregory was caught in the deep for five.

And the Langley tail then fail to wag as the last three batsman failed to score a run leaving the impressive Hollinshead 58not out – his best innings of the season – as Langley scored 142 all out. For Chelford Duffy 4-40 was the pick.

In reply, the hosts were always under pressure as Joel Unsworth and Frame bowled with accuracy and got good seam movement, the run rate rarely rose above two as only Duffy (25) looked assured.

They were eventually dismissed for just 47 in 30 overs with Frame 6-12 and Joel Unsworth 3-30 bowling great spells.

Langley second XI remain top of division five as they posted 85 all out against Sandbach, Matt Barber scoring 35. In reply, Sandbach were all out for 45 Randy Belfield taking six wickets and Barber four wickets.
