On a wet and windy day in Congleton Bollington secured a gritty draw in a rain-reduced match.

Bowling first the home side compiled 190-8 off 29 overs mainly thanks to an unbeaten 60 from Kiwi overseas player Jerry Lamb.

For Bolly first-team debutant Syed Khan was easily the pick of the bowlers as he took a superb haul of 6-53.

In reply Bolly had 37 overs in which to score the runs required, but good bowling from Congleton at the start of the innings made run scoring tricky.

Eventually Bolly had to dig in for the draw and ensured they got batting bonus points to finish on 140-6.

Skipper Tom Barrass top scored with 41 while there were meaningful contributions from Rick Hough (36) and Matt Dawson (25 not out).

Lamb completing an outstanding all-round day with 4-33.

Bolly entertain Toft tomorrow (Thursday) at The Rec in the new Twenty20 league before they welcome Irby on Saturday.
