In a game reduced to 88 overs, Alderley Edge lost at home to Didsbury, but stay 11 points clear of Oulton Park.

Oulton remain in 11th spot in the Premier Division after collecting the seven points from the cancellation of their game at Macclesfield.

Batting first at Moss Lane, Didsbury declared on 196-5, Paul Sperring top scoring with 41 and the Alderley wickets shared between Charlie Reid, who took two, and Jason Whittaker, Tom Atkinson and Ben Davis.

The Alderley Edge reply fell 40 runs short at 156.

Alan Day (40) was the highest run-scorer for Edge, with Mark Currie close behind on 35, and Didsbury’s left-arm spinner Jonny Fawcett returned figures of 5-42.

Alderley travel to bottom side Grappenhall next Saturday.
