Wilmslow Wayfarers first XI returned to winning form with a comfortable victory over rivals Styal.

Styal posted an under-par 180-8 off their allotted overs before Wayfarers saw off the total for the loss of five wickets.

Bowling first, Martyn Baldwin (3-21) and Luke Unsworth (3-42) struck early to reduce the home side to 4-3.

And wickets continued to fall regularly as Styal stumbled to 109-7.

However, Chris Nolan’s unbeaten 81 helped his side post a competitive target of 180-8.

A good early stand between Tom Atherton (44) and Bobby Seal (62) put the game firmly into the visitors’ hands.

With the score on 149-1, Wayfarers looked like they were coasting to victory. However, a few late wickets saw them slump to 174-5.

But it was not long before Martin Wright hit the winning runs as Wayfarers reached 184-5.

Wayfarers second eleven won, beating Old Parkonians.

Parkonians batted first posting 143 all out with new boy Jacques Chobbe-Lerrone taking 4-21 with some outstanding spin bowling.

In response, good early contributions from James McIntyre-Mein (26) and Bob Branagan (27) laid the platform.

Khatteer Zeb (33) and Sam Dawson (38 not out) then took the game away from the Parkonian side as Wayfarers passed the target for the loss of five wickets.
