Members of a charity for wheelchair users and other disabled people will enjoy an outdoor holiday after a £24,800 donation.

Wheelies provides opportunities for disabled people, mainly but not exclusively wheelchair users, to take part in leisure activities.

Mum Jane Collins, whose 18-year-old daughter Nina is a member, told her bosses at Franklyn Financial Management about the charity and they set about raising money to help.

Guests at the firm’s Summer Swing event at The Mere Resort and Spa were asked to pledge money for the youngsters to go to The Calvert Trust outdoor pursuits centre in the Lake District that has activities such as sailing, kayaking, abseiling, horse-riding and paragliding.

Andrew Chatterton, director of the Congleton firm, presented Wheelies with a cheque for £24,800.

He said; “Due to the overwhelming generosity of individuals on the evening and pound for pound matching by charity the St James’s Place Foundation Wheelies can take all their members to The Calvert Trust which is phenomenal.

“We’re extremely proud of being able to give to such a deserving, local cause.”
