Wind and rain caused flooding and damage as Storm Angus battered the town.

Heavy rain throughout Monday caused water levels on the River Bollin to rise.

A flooding alert was issued by the Environment Agency and remained in place until Tuesday lunchtime.

Flash floods were also reported all over the town and in some rural areas.

Police were called to incidents Black Road, Silk Road and Lark Hall Road, as well as Beech Lane, Maple Lane and Moss Lane. There were also reports of problems on Pedley Hill, Rainow and a fallen tree on Middlewood Road.

One of the most serious incidents was in Wildboarclough where frefighters were called to a flooded house.

A crew from Macclesfield went to Clough Road at 6.32pm on Monday and found water had flooded into the house from a stream outside.
