Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club is trying to fundraise to buy a new minibus.

Through various appeals it has raised almost half of the £10,000 target.

But now the club based at Park Green is hoping to boost its effort thanks to legendary boxer Ricky Hatton.

The former champ has donated a pair of his signed gloves which are being raffled off.

The draw takes place on December 22.

Tickets are just 50p each and are available from the boxing club, TTS Meats and MKM Builders.

Stephanie Bradley, who is promoting the raffle, said: “We are so grateful to Ricky for donating the gloves, which will be a treasured item for any boxing fan.

“The money raised by the raffle will go toward a new minibus which takes fighters to bouts all over the country.”

Meanwhile the club is hosting a showcase of its boxing talent at Wilmslow Leisure Centre on February 5.

Tickets are £10 from the venue.

Macclesfield Boys’ Boxing Club (MBBC) was launched in 2004.

The voluntary organisation, which aims to continue to develop young people as competitive boxers, works with the local community to try to keep membership fees low so as to encourage youngsters from all backgrounds.

It is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6pm to 8pm.

Sessions cost £1 for junior members.
