Readers mocking a comical police e-fit took to Facebook to make their own rogues gallery of the picture.

Police issued an e-fit of a man they want to speak to in connection with a strange incident at a Macclesfield pub. A man was seen acting in an odd manner with AA batteries in a plastic case around his waist and when he was asked to leave the premises he pulled out a knife and threatened a customer before fleeing.

But Express readers failed to take the appeal seriously due to the e-fit picture of the man, which featured an amateurish hair and beard scrawled onto the face.

They got creative on the Express Facebook page making their own versions of the image.

Dominic Gibbs posted a picture of himself with fake beard saying: “Come and get me coppers.

“There’s budget cuts and then there’s using snapchat to take a picture of your mate and scribbling on his face.”

And Gemma Sydney got creative with her selfie with the caption ‘One the run!’.

Joanna Tierney also docotored a photo of a male friend stating ‘Yep, we got him!!!”

Dominic Gibbs posted his photo with the tagline - 'Come and get me coppers"

Anna Gough posted: “I genuinely thought this was a joke. Looks like the image was made on someone’s PC using Paint.”

Paula Derbyshire said: “Such a good efit until it comes to the hair and beard. It looks as though someone has attacked it with a marker pen.”

Ed Coley posted: “When you’re in charge of criminal investigation but only have access to Microsoft paint.”

Police are still appealing for help to trace the man in the picture.

The efit of a man police DO want to speak to in relation to the incident on Park Lane.

A man entered The Park Tavern in Park Lane at around 6.45pm on January 12.

The man is described as white, around 5’ 9” tall, aged in his late 30s, with short black hair, a dark coloured beard and a slim face.

He was wearing a black waist length jacket with a grey jumper underneath, blue jeans and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Simon Mills said: “During the evening eye witnesses described seeing what they thought were a number of AA batteries in a plastic case around the waist of the man. The witnesses were not concerned about this - it was only when the knife was pulled out that they felt threatened. But clearly this is unusual behaviour and people may have seen him earlier in the night and remember him and we would urge them to come forward.”

Call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 835 of January 12.
