Plans to redevelop Alderley Park into a hub for science companies will be on display at another consultation this week.

Bosses at Manchester Science Partnerships (MSP) which owns the Nether Alderley site are preparing a planning application to modify buildings and build new facilities to attract science firms to the park. The plans will also include housing and leisure facilities.

They held a consultation last month, but after concerns that a limited number of people were able to attend, they are holding a second event this Thursday, November 5.

Rowena Burns, MSP chief executive, said: “Showcasing our draft plans to the community is the first key step towards securing the future of Alderley Park and supporting the creation of up to 7,000 jobs. We will consider all comments and amend plans where possible before we submit a planning application in the coming weeks.”

A planning application has already been submitted for the refurbishment of buildings known as Block 15. This is the first step to kick-start the redevelopment. The building has been empty since 2007 and there is a need to create suitable space to secure new occupiers before pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca leaves the site. The consultation is in the Helix Rooms at the Conference Centre, between 3pm and 7pm.
