A youth group was alive with music, art, stories and celebrations for a festival to mark its 10th anniversary.

Cre8 runs activities for young people on the Moss Rose estate and each year holds a festival for the community.

This year’s festival - with the theme True Light - celebrated Cre8’s 10th birthday and attracted more than 250 people. Activities included a concert at St Michaels Church, storytelling at The Park Tavern, community games evening, free lunches and opportunities to meet the Cre8 team.

There was also the reopening of the community wildlife area which has won funing from Comic Relief. The finale was a hog roast and celebration evening showcasing Cre8’s activities.

Katy Wardle, 32, operations supervisor whose dad Rob helped found the group, said: “The festival was for the community to see and celebrate what the young people have been doing.

“Most of the volunteers come from the estate and many of the young people who attend come back as volunteers. It’s about showing young people have potential and realising that potential.”
