The town was awash with pink for events to fight breast cancer.

Doormen, punters and work colleagues were among those who wore flashes of the colour as part of Paint Macc Pink events for charity Prevent Breast Cancer, formerly known as Genesis.

There were more than 30 fundraising events and at the weekend most of the town’s bars took part in a special big night out as a finale.

Macclesfield Town Football Club’s mascot Roary got involved and the Cygnets choir performed in St Michael’s Church.

One of the organisers and a breast cancer patient herself is Claire Henry Buxton, whose partner is a member of door staff at Society Bar.

A husky racer, Claire was joined by doormen friends to take the dogs around town on the night.

Paint Macc pink started at Society bar, in Dukes Court, Macclesfield last year. The team this year worked with door staff at other bars to organise more events, as many have a connection with the charity.

Matthew Till, of the organising committee, said: “It was such a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone got really into it and there was pink everywhere. We’re still counting up funds but it will be a massive total.”
