A May queen and her attendants paraded through the village to mark the start of another school fair.
Amy Pardon was chosen as the May Queen for the fair at Hollinhey Primary School this year.
Amy with her six attendants and three page boys took part in a procession through the village to the school where there was a crowning ceremony and the event was declared open.
There was a host of family entertainment at the school for this year’s fair, which was enjoyed by staff, parents and the community.
This year’s fair had a circus theme and there were activities set around this for the children. This included circus skills workshops.
There was a raffle, pony rides, gifts and stalls, games and crafts and a barbecue. Children from the school gave performances for staff and families at the event.
Janet Mott, headteacher, said: “We had another great summer fair, this year with a lovely circus theme for the children to take part in. There were lots of tasty refreshments, two bouncy castles, circus tricks, dancing and performances by our brass trio and choirs.
“Money raised at the event goes into school funds and there was money raised for local charities too. We all had a great time thanks to the hard work of staff and parents.”
