Children at Parkroyal Community School enjoyed a summer fair as part of a grand launch for their new £2.5million extension.

The school on Lyon Street in Macclesfield won the government funding for new buildings because it was oversubscribed and did not have enough space to accommodate the children.

The canteen, Reception class building, school office and preschool facilities have been demolished and the new extension includes an Early Years Centre, dining room, kitchen to allow the children to learn cookery, play area, rooms for staff to give children extra tuition and extended school office.

The school invited Macclesfield mayor Alift Harewood to the grand launch which was followed by the summer fair, with family games and refreshments.

Caron Corden, headteacher, said; “The Mayor of Macclesfield attended for a tour of our new facilities followed by a short speech in the lower hall.

“Then the summer fair fun started with lots of exciting stalls, fish and chips and cream teas.

“It’s been a long process but we were delighted to invite the community to view our wonderful new school extension.”
