Fans of Macclesfield Town FC are almost half way towards their challenge to raise £10,000 to buy new players.
A mystery overseas fan gifted the club £15,000 in August for manager John Askey to spend on new signings.
But, in a potentially lucrative twist, the anonymous donor has offered to match pound for pound any cash raised by supporters up to £10,000.
This could mean John Askey could have £35,000 to spend on bolstering his squad this season.
The £10k Dash campaign has been launched by Support Our Silkmen, a group of super-fans, backed by the Silkmen Supporters Trust, which raises funds to support the club.
In just three weeks 74 fans have pledged £4,230, including a £500 donation from Andy Thomas who lives in Indonesia.
He urged fans to keep the cash coming to hit the target by November 10, the day Macc take on Altrincham at the Moss Rose.
He said: “The club is battling hard to improve, let’s all dig deep and help.”
Tony Brown, from Support Our Silkmen, said the reaction to the campaign had been overwhelming.
He added: “There has been a brilliant reaction to the campaign with 74 fans really throwing their weight behind the club.
“Now word is getting around I suspect more and more people will want to help.
“At the moment the fund is growing by £247 per day so it is projected the fund could top £15,000 by our deadline, which is an exciting prospect.
“Every penny raised goes to the manager to spend on players.”
The campaign is supported by John Askey and club chairman Mark Blower.
Mark said: “It is fantastic to hear that a group of supporters are teaming up to help supplement John’s playing budget.
“We have built a good squad but this is a tough league and with hopefully good runs in all of the cup competitions, this funding will help John improve his squad and give him the best possible chance of success.
“Everybody has a part to play in the success of the team. Whether it is a member of the backroom staff, an office volunteer or a supporter.”
