FOOTBALL was the winner last Friday when the youngsters of the town battled it out with the experienced feet from the beat of Wilmslow Police Station.

More than 50 youngsters, and Man United midfielder Anderson turned up to the leisure centre to watch teams from around the area go head-to-head with the town’s law enforcers and fire fighters.

Youth defeated seniority 6-2 in the final with Wilmslow High walking away with the trophy against the boys in blue. High school pupil Eren Smith was presented with the coveted Player of the Tournament trophy and a £20 JD Sports voucher.

Organiser, PCSO Suzi Williams said: "Everything went according to plan even though it was on Friday 13 and there was friendly rivalry between the teams."

The coup of the day was the appearance of the 20-year-old Brazilian star who happily signed autographs for the youngsters and even brought two signed footballs and a signed shirt which are to be auctioned for Comic Relief.

Die hard Blackburn Rovers fan Suzi said: "PCSO Nani Alecrim, who’s Brazilian, bumped into Anderson in Alderley Edge and invited him down to the event and he was really nice.

"The football on the day was run by Russell Burling from Premier Football Coaching. I couldn't have done it without them as they organised the order of play and made sure the day ran smoothly from start to finish. All the kids also left with a free coaching voucher."
