Remember the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, where plucky individuals were given a high profile chance to express themselves in whatever way they chose?

Now there is a Poynton Plinth which has been erected especially for Red Nose Day. On Saturday, March 19 residents can pay £5 and get a 15 minute ‘slot’ on the plinth, which stands outside Waitrose supermarket on the corner of Park Lane.

People are being invited to play an instrument, recite poetry, paint a picture or do whatever they want - within the bounds of common decency and the law - to raise money for Red Nose Day and have a fun time doing it.

The plinth will operate from 9am to 5pm, and will be officially opened by Poynton’s Mayor, Councillor Gabor Bartos. Book your slot at Poynton Civic Hall now by paying £5 or turn up on the day with your cash. There are only 32 slots available, so don’t delay.
