Wilmslow welcomed home its Olympic heroes at a special ceremony last night.

The celebrations began with Victoria Pendleton being quizzed by youngsters in a question and answer session at Wilmslow High School.

That was followed by a short tour through the rain soaked streets and a civic reception at Wilmslow leisure centre.

Commitments with Strictly Come Dancing forced Victoria to miss the parade itself but Paralympic cyclist Craig MacLean showed off his gold medal along with his cycling partner Anthony Kappes, from Hazel Grove.

And despite the weather more than a 100 people turned out at the event organised by Cheshire East and Wilmslow Town council.

Scottish born Craig, who was tandem pilot for Anthony as they won gold in the Men's Sprint, met with fans and posed for photo's.

He said: “To see so many people turn out on a horrible night like this, when it's Halloween as well, it's a massive honour."
