BORN Three... that's Susan, Sandra and Billy Moore - the trio who firmly believe that three is company and decidedly NOT a crowd!

They are Cheshire's first triplets, born at Macclesfield Hospital back in 1956, decades before IVF treament made multiple births more commonplace.

The trio are so close they have spent their entire lives happily in each other's pockets.

Born just 15 minutes apart they now live only seconds away from each other on The Moss Estate and just around the corner from the house in which they were raised.

And in keeping with their sense of togetherness the three are jetting off for a week's holiday to Turkey this Friday - the day they celebrate their 50th birthday.

"We don't want a big party - we've done all that," said Sandra, whose husband Geoff is tagging along as usual.

"We just want to be together for our big day."

And so they shall - just like they have been for the past 50 years, for although they are not identical they are inseparable.

Their mum and dad, Ivy and postman Bibby Moore hit the national newspaper headlines when the triplets unexpectedly arrived on September 9, 1956.

Doctors had only detected one heart beat and later two shadows when Ivy went for an x-ray late in her pregnancy and she was instantly admitted into hospital when they realised a multiple birth was imminent.

It was a shock all round since the couple already had three children, Jean, Marion and Kenny, now aged 67, 60 and 55 respectively, and they weren't really expecting any additions.

In fact Ivy was 41 and thought she was going through the change when she bobbed into the doctor's with tummy ache and later Bibby would often comment on how his family literally doubled overnight.

But life was happy for the Moore family and particularly for the triplets who looked out for each other all the way through their schooldays and adulthood together.

Community support worker Sandra Goodwin and husband Geoff, who have two daughters, Adele, 27, and Michelle, 24, live on Rutland Road, just across the road from carer Susan Press, who has two sons, Martin, 23, and Brian 26.

Bachelor Billy Moore lives just around the corner on Cedar Grove, and he can see the family home where they all grew up from his front door.

And the other siblings - Jean, Marion and Kenny who have a whole batch of children between them - also live on the estate making it a proper family affair.

"Sandra and I certainly do think and dress alike," said Susan. Both unwittingly turned out in almost identical outfits that morning. "We sometimes find out we have eaten the same meal or thought the same thought at the same time.

"The three of us go out at night together, spend Christmas together and we go on holiday together. We are three of a kind."

Astonishingly, all three sport identical scars on their chins - the girls from tumbling off their bikes in separate accidents and their brother from falling on his face as he walked with his hands in his pockets.

As for Billy, although he never married and had children, he is regarded as a surrogate dad and granddad who is adored by all the youngsters in the massive Moore dynasty who reside on The Moss Estate.
