JAMES Bond made them every boy's fantasy, Wayne Rooney drives one and more of them are sold in Wilmslow than anywhere else on the planet.

Wilmslow's Aston Martin dealership sold 300 of the luxury cars over the past year, more than any other dealership in the world.

Second only to London's Mayfair for sales of new Aston Martins, Stratstone says its top rating is down to its Wilmslow location.

Mark Cookson, principal dealer, said the showroom in the heart of Wilmslow is a major factor behind the record breaking year.

"The secret of our success is to supply the most prestigious make of motor car from the most prestigious dealership in the most prestigious town in the UK."

Always enjoying a reputation for luxury, the British-made bespoke cars have enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years.

This is thanks largely to the launch of the popular DB9 and the new V8 Vantage, currently the most popular car at the Wilmslow store, he said.

"A few years ago, Aston Martin's were being built in their hundreds", said Mark. "Now they are being built in their thousands."

And with the much hyped brand new DB8 model about to take a starring role in the James Bond film Casino Royale this winter, the hype is set to continue.

"The association with James Bond has gone back years and years. It is a boyhood dream of a lot of people to own one and in particular, when I was growing up in the 1960s and James Bond was driving the Aston Martin it went hand in hand with the excitement of the James Bond lifestyle."

A brand new Aston Martin will set you back from £88,000 to £188,000 but price alone doesn't guarantee exclusivity.

Mark said: "We have a two year waiting list for all our new cars, we aim to try and keep it exclusive. The thing about an Aston Martin is that every single new car is built to the customer's requirements. To find two the same is a very very rare thing."

And every Aston Martin sold in the Wilmslow garage carries the Stratstone Wilmslow badge on the number plate, added cache for an already luxurious car.
