Two people were robbed by a gang of thugs last night.

In the first attack a male Tesco employee was walking through the underpass under the railway and Silk Road near to Arighi Bianchi when he was approached by three males.

The offenders attacked the victim before stealing his phone and headphones. The incident occurred at around 10.30pm.

The second incident happened just half an hour later, as three men attacked another male before stealing his mobile phone from his hand.

The robbery occurred on the lower part of Windmill Street, Macclesfield, at approximately 11pm.

The offenders then ran off towards the Sun Inn pub.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses.

Detetective Constable Andrew Street, of Macclesfield CID, said: “We believe the incidents could be connected. These males are described as 18 to 20 years old and were wearing dark hooded tops with hoods up and scarfs covering their faces.

“One of the males is described as 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, the second 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins, and the third over 6ft . One is described as having a small moustache.

“Anyone with any information please contact the Police on 101 and quote crime number CC14173847, for the attention of DC’s Edon and Street.”
