A manhunt has been launched to find two thugs after a knife robbery.

On Wednesday (July 30), a 20-year-old man was approached by the two offenders and threatened with a blade. He was then ordered to hand over his mobile phone.

After the robbery the thugs made off towards the Moss Estate, taking the phone and the victim’s headphones.

The incident took place shortly after 11pm near St George’s Street and Chapel Street, Macclesfield.

The first offender is described as white, around 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of medium to slim build and wearing black tracksuit bottoms, dark trainers and a dark coloured hoody with a balaclava scarf pulled up over his nose.

The second offender is 6ft tall, medium to slim build and also wore dark tracksuit bottoms, a hooded top and a balaclava pulled over his face. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Dave Edon on 101, quoting incident 1080 of 30 July 2014.

Officers are now also urging residents to sign up to an app to help keep their iPhones safe.

After receiving reports of 65 thefts of Apple’s handset in the last year around Macclesfield, people are being urged to download the Find my iPhone app.

The app allows people to see their missing iPhone on a map. Users can also immediately lock their device and send it a message.

Inspector Steve Griffiths, head of Macclesfield police, said: “We have had 65 thefts of iPhones as a result of various robberies, pick pocketing and thefts.

“There is a far greater chance of us getting the phone back if people have downloaded this app.

“It’s well worth getting the app to ensure you don’t become a victim of crime.”
