More than a thousand revellers put on their sun hats and headed to Langley for the annual village fete.

It was opened by guest of honour Forbes Furmage, with Hollinhey Rose Queen Amy Pardon by his side as he arrived in a horse drawn carriage.

Alison Archer, who helped organised the event, said: “It was really, really good.

“We’d all been dreading it because the weather wasn’t looking good but it turned out to be absolutely glorious.

“The field was packed with people.”

Revellers enjoyed car displays, fell race, tug of war, kids races, games, food stalls, and musical performances from the Chinese Marbles, Night Flight and the Kontaani Band from Langley, which opened the fete.

Alison added: “The music was absolutely fantastic. Everyone was up on their feet at the end of the fete dancing.”

Alison reckons the event raised more than £6,500, which will go towards the upkeep of the 100-year-old village hall and a senior citizens Christmas dinner and celebration for villagers.
