COMIC Relief fever will sweep through Macclesfield on Friday, with local businesses and organisations already getting red-dy for the big event.

Red Nose Day celebrations are planned across the town to raise money for poor and disadvantaged people at home and abroad.

Entourage Hairdressers are getting into the spirit of the event by offering red hair extensions at their salon on Duke Street, Macclesfield.

On Thursday and Friday they will charge £1 for each of the six extensions, with the work carried out by professional stylist Suzy Rejkowski.

The PTA of Upton Priory Infants School hit on a really smart idea to raise funds.

They provided each pupil at the school with a tube of Smarties which they have been filling with 5p coins over the past two weeks.

The final amount will be collected on Friday and, with all 128 pupils involved and each tube able to contain up to £3, it is hoped that a lot of money will be raised.

The Macclesfield salon of Wilson's Hairdressing have a hair-raising scheme in mind to raise money.

All members of staff will wear fancy dress and bright red wigs.

Proprietor, Audrey Wilson Hough, said: "Once again, we are delighted to enter into the spirit of this fantastic fundraising event and hope to raise lots of money during the day."
