More families, musicians and beer drinkers than ever turned out at this year’s Styal Beer Festival.

Organisers estimate that up to 3,500 people attended the event at Styal Football Club – the biggest number in its five-year history – with the hot weather helping to bring out the revellers.

There were performances from bands, a fairground, zorb ball assault course, ice cream, an under-eights football tournament and catering from Tastebuds in Wilmslow.

There were also 60 ales on offer, mainly from Cheshire breweries. A  raffle raised £1,100 for St Anne’s Hospice and East Cheshire Hospice.

Kim Cockitt, from the organising committee, said: “It was our busiest year with around 3,500 people, a lot of them were children.

“We’ve had lots of good feedback and it was a great community event.”
