AN RAF serviceman launched a merciless attack on his girlfriend during a blazing row.

Martin Parry left his victim with ‘nasty’ facial injuries after punching her up to 10 times and ‘knocking her out cold’, a court heard.

Shortly before, the 38-year-old dragged the woman off the roof of his car as she tried to stop him from leaving.

At Macclesfield magistrates’ court, Parry, of Somerford House, Parklands Way, Poynton, admitted assault and drink driving.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said the victim refused to give a statement about the incident on July 23, which was witnessed by Daniel Evans, who called the police.

She said: “Mr Evans gave a detailed commentary during his 999 call. He said he had been woken up by the argument. He recognised both the defendant and victim from previous incidents. He said they are as bad as each other and she behaves like this regularly and wakes everyone up.

“He said there was foul language and abusive behaviour from both. He saw fighting inside a car outside a block of flats. They were both throwing their arms around in the vehicle.

“He said he saw the male drag her out by the legs. He saw him throw eight to 10 punches with a closed fist and knocking her out cold.”

The court heard that when police arrived, Parry was breathalysed and recorded 52mg – the legal limit is 35mg.

John Gallagher, defending, urged magistrates to defer punishment to the RAF where Parry is a gunner with five years’ service.

He said: “The military have their own disciplinary process and he is facing punishment financially and in terms of his promotion. He is in a great deal of trouble with his employer. They had both been drinking, but she had been drinking a lot.

“He said he wanted to get away from her and avoid confrontation. He dragged her out of the car. She didn’t want him to drive off. It got out of hand.”

But Mrs Byrne said that while the victim appeared ‘far from blameless’ there was ‘excessive force used’.

She said: “There is a previous history of abuse and the nasty facial injuries are attributed to the defendant and being dragged off the roof and bonet of the car.”

Magistrates asked for an all options report from the probation services and will sentence him on August 23.
