Concert goers will be partying in the park after a popular music, arts and skating festival announced it is moving to a new home.

Loominus Festival, the brainchild of a group of local young music promoters, made it's debut last year in front of thousands of people in Market Square.

However in order to make this year's event even bigger, organisers are switching the main stage to West Park.

Those behind it say they need more space for skating and other arts events which is at a premium in the town centre on a Saturday afternoon.

Instead the main stage, which will pay host to a string of top names, will be erected in the park off Prestbury Road.

The council last week announced they are spending £10,000 renovating the skate ramp in the park in time for the festival, which takes on September 7.

This year's headliners have already been announced with rising star and former All Hallows pupil Hatty Keane heading up the event in her home town.
She is joined on the bill by Manchester based Rap artist Blizzard and pop heartthrob Connor Harris.

Meanwhile local favourites Rough Twist will appear for the second year running.

Dane Swindells, one of the organisers, said they hadn't taken the decision to move lightly but it was the only way for them to grow the up and coming festival.

He said: "We have looked into every avenue possible to us to
avoid this happening.

"But we believe that the relocation will enable us to a bigger, better and more exciting experience which we have been promising.

"Loominus Festival was fantastic last year and brought lots of people into the town.

"Obviously it does mean that regrettably, Market Place won’t have a big event on the day.

"But this is something we most definitely hope we can return to the area in future years.

"Our long term aim is to completely take over the town and have many areas of live music and entertainment.

"The skating aspect of the festival was one of our main reasons for choosing West Park as the new location for the festival.

"It has a large open-plan outdoor skating area which will allow us to offer a bigger range of entertainment."

Tickets for the festival go on sale today, Wednesday June 26.

They are priced at £5, with a family ticket for up to 2 adults and 2 children just £15.
