Thousands of participants braved the mud for charity at the latest Born Survivor obstacle course at Capesthorne Hall near Siddington.

The 10km event, a series of ‘hardcore’ military inspired challenges devised by an ex-Royal Marine Commando and Falkland’s veteran, saw entrants conquer a series of intimidatingly named obstacles including muddy tunnels called ‘Rat Holes’, 10 ft running climb, ‘The Blitz’ and ‘Grenade Killer Bars’, monkey bars or rings over water.

The 2,500 participants were joined on the day by an equal number of spectators, event sponsors, including Total Fitness and Grenade, and nomi nated charities Cystic Fibrosis Trust, The Soldiers’ Charity and Unique Kidz.

Matt Leigh, Born Survivor’s general manager, said, “It was another incredible day for us at Capesthorne Hall.

“The route featured over 30 hardcore obstacles and attracted a wide range of ages and abilities, all of whom battled their way round a course that many said was our best and muddiest yet.”

Festival inspired refreshments, entertainment and a children’s obstacle course marked the end of the challenge.
