A cyber-bully targeted an alopecia sufferer in a series of ‘nasty’ Facebook posts.

Danielle Lauren Jackson, 27, taunted her victim with four images which mocked her looks, a court heard.

The victim said the ‘vicious and unwarranted’ messages had ‘deep’ impact on her.

Jackson, of Pownall Street, Macclesfield, admitted four charges of sending a communication conveying false information for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient, a crime under the Malicious Communications Act at Stockport magistrates’ court.

The court heard that the victim had endured a problematic break-up with her ex-partner, who Jackson was close friends with.

Eileen Roger, prosecuting, said: “The victim suffered from alopecia for a number of years which caused her great distress. She was also bullied at school about it.

“Facebook messages were posted on July 10, at 12.10am, 10.22am and 10.30am, and July 15 at 11.26am.

“The messages that were posted had a deep impact on her. She became depressed.

“She was alerted to the images by a friend who told her that she had been ‘tagged’ in a Facebook photo posted by Jackson with the words ‘best thing I’ve seen all day’.

“Another doctored image showed someone unruly and ugly and the words ‘would you go home with this?’”

Mrs Rogers said that following the break-up of the relationship between the victim and her partner, “Jackson took it upon herself to hurt the victim”.

In a victim impact statement, she said: “The offences were vicious and unwarranted, and caused me great distress.

“They were in the public domain and made me feel harassed and scared to go into town.”

Lisa Tinsley, defending, Jackson, who has previous convictions for drug possession and assault, said: “They had been friends for years.

“She resented that the victim had cut out her ex-partner.

“She accepts that she shared the image.”

Magistrates described the offences as ‘nasty and ordered Jackson to complete 80 hours unpaid work and pay the victim £100 compensation.
