TWO script writers have chosen Wilmslow for the perfect setting for a film - now they want Posh Spice to take part.

Seb Brown, 29, and Mike Leaffield, 32, have finished their 11th draft of Dodgy Geezers, a British spin on the US sitcom Friends.

Funding is their only stumbling block between them and the big screen.

Seb and Mike chose Wilmslow for the film for its "cultural diversity" and "picturesque surroundings".

Seb, manager at Blockbusters in Alderley Road, said: "We hate Friends so we decided to do our own version of it.

"In our film all the residents are at war with each other for control of the house.

"The main character, Tony Murray, goes down hill after his relationship with girlfriend, Sheryl, breaks down.

"He ends up insane and his condition begins to affect everyone else in the house.

"We thought trouble-free Wilmslow would contrast with the chaos of our characters."

Seb said Bruce Jones and Gill Taylor are interested in the film and Rik Mayall, Ricky Tomlinson and Posh Spice are also being targeted.

"I think Victoria Beckham could play the girlfriend character, Sheryl," said Seb, married to Sharon, 27, with two daughters.

"Sheryl is the only innocent person in it and having met Victoria in Blockbusters, she strikes me as the ideal woman for the part."

Seb and Mike have written sitcoms for Channel Four which have yet to be made.

But the pair believe this latest project will be a hit, as does Manchester producer, Roy Vernon, who has the script for the £580,000 full-length comedy.

Roy is confident in the film's potential.

"Our yacht, moored in a prime position on the jetty in Cannes, has already been booked for May 2003," he said.

"It has a commercial evaluation, once distributed, of between £2-5 million and comes with a request for UK distribution in cinema."

Seb wants to see local people involved, too.

"We're looking for investors and I think it would be an excellent opportunity for Wilmslow residents to own part of a film shot in their area."
