ALDERLEY Edge whizz Harry Rajah has just had his first book published – a fantasy tale worthy of JK Rowling herself – that ignites a writing career he’s been plotting since the tender age of 13.

Harry, now 18, began the book, entitled Prophecy, in 2003 and admits to being a terrible "tinkerer" with his "baby" over the years.

But it finally hit the shelves this month and the sixth form student storyteller is loving being a published author.

"It has been my baby over the years," he said. "It was never a straightforward thing, I was always tinkering with it – it’s amazing to see my book on sale."

Currently taking his A-levels at All Hallows High School in Macclesfield, Harry is donating a proportion of sales profits to his school’s charity – which helps HIV suffers in India – and St Ann’s Hospice in Manchester.

"I was reading fantasy books when I was younger and thought ‘I could do that’," said Harry, who hopes to study medicine at university next year. I sent it off to a few companies, and one said they liked it and wanted to publish it.  My family is really happy for me now – and everyone at the school thinks I’m some kind of celebrity."

The 170,000 word, 270 page epic was quickly snapped up by Arima Publishing. It charts the travels of three heroes: a trio of plucky characters who set out on a quest.

They are seeking pieces of a staff which will eventually destroy the evil mystics who are out to obliterate Atria, the otherworldly realm they inhabit.

The young writer may start work on a sequel in the summer and has his fingers crossed for "a £100,000 royalty cheque".

But Harry had better watch out, his seven-year-old sister Jasmine is hot on his heels – she is currently working on her first novel.

Michelle Garvey, head of sixth form, said: "Harry’s decision to donate the profits of his first book Prophecy is typical of what I have come to expect of him.

"Harry has shown himself to be a student who is prepared to stand out from the crowd, and determined to make a real difference."

The book is available from www.amazon.co.uk , priced at £9.99.
