A violent thug who bit a woman’s private parts has been jailed.

Graham John Livingstone, 44, caused her ‘excruciating pain’, a court heard.

The sex assault was the latest in the ‘prolific and serious’ record of violence against women, prosecutors said.

At Chester Crown Court, Livingstone, formerly of Glegg Street, Macclesfield, admitted sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Sentencing him to three and a half years in prison, Judge Alan Conrad QC said: “You are a man who had an unhappy start to your life. You spread that unhappiness to others.

“You have a record of violence that is prolific and serious. In fact you have served a number of prison sentences for violence.

“These offences are very serious. It must have been excruciatingly painful.”

In an statement read out in court the victim said: “This has had a quite significant effect on me. I now distrust all men and have lost all confidence.”

Maria Marcellus, prosecuting, said: “Regarding the sexual assault, the defendant left nasty bruising and teeth marks which suggests considerable force was applied. It was extremely painful.”

Regarding the assault, he said: “[Livingstone] slapped her to the face and grabbed her by her hair pulling her to the floor. This caused bruising to her cheek and a cut to her eye.”

The court heard that Livingstone’s most recent conviction was in July 2015 while living in Macclesfield when he was jailed for two years for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill. He was released after serving half the sentence but was later recalled to HMP Altcourse after breaching the terms of his licence.

David Farley, defending, said Livingstone had a poor memory of the incident because he was drunk.

He said: “He was too drunk to control himself.

“His problems are deeply rooted. His father was murdered when he was four and he had an abusive step-father. Those terrible memories haunt.”

Livingstone was given an indefinite restraining order and was ordered to sign onto the sex offenders register for life.
