Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted during a burglary at Park Green.

An offender broke into a takeaway at about 6am on Monday, April 16, and stole cash, but was confronted by a member of staff who he then assaulted.

PC Mick Holloway, from the neighbourhood policing team, is leading the investigation.

He said crimes at that time of the morning and at a busy location are rare in Macclesfield.

He said: "Crimes of this nature – the fact that the offender has been confronted – are rare, but it is concerning and has a great impact on the people involved. I would urge anybody with any information to come forward and contact me direct."

Police are particularly keen in locating a tall, muscular black male who was seen in the area at the time.

Anyone with information or saw anything suspicious is urged to contact the police's non-emergency number 101 and quote incident number 112 of April 16, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
